LG V50 ThinQ 5G is ready for getting its Android 12 update. LG’s mobile division might be dead, but it’s still got some zombie thing going – LG is slowly delivering on its promise to update some of its last devices to Android 12 this year, as well as the now-released V60 ThinQ.
The phone was released in April 2019, and the update to Android 12 is currently rolling out to Verizon models in the US. Presumably, other US phone variations are next in line to receive the goodies. The changelog is sparse, with no design or UI changes expected beyond what Google packed into Android 12 last year; all users should expect is Google’s new features, including privacy indicators for microphone and camera, controls for location sharing, and more.

Expect no additional updates now; integrating new software would have been too much work, so the software will look like it used to before the update. The V50 ThinQ 5G released in April of 2019, so it’s not surprising that the update has taken so long to come around- although with a phone now being more than three years old and LG having stopped making phones altogether so you may be able to trade up for something newer (or maybe give your current phone away).
