Oppo certifies three new smartphone designs with rear displays. Oppo finally secured the patent for a smartphone with an under-display camera, and the company has now has secured rights to three additional models. They all include one component every day: an LCD on the rear of an island for cameras.
It’s implausible that this kind of solution will become included in the Find X5 series, but we’d like to see a shift in how we use smartphones, and, hopefully, Oppo could lead it. We can’t forget about the Vivo NEX Dual Display with two large-sized screens on both sides, along with all foldable phones.

We think that Oppo might take advantage of the use of a second display from the clamshell foldable, smaller panels to display notifications, selfies as well as AOD. There’s no information in the patents issued through WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) on whether the displays are touch-sensitive or not.
The camera and display designs are gorgeous, but there’s a likelihood of Oppo certificating them to deter competitors from making use of these designs. This isn’t something new or surprising in the field of manufacturing. Oppo will do whatever it can to shield itself from competitors in a market where every new design can trigger an explosion of copies.
