TSMC controlled 70% of the Q1 chipset shipments. TSMC dominated, controlling 70% of the market for application processors, system-on-chips, and cellular modems. Samsung Foundry came in second place with a 30% share, while global smartphone chipset shipments fell by 5% annually.

Surprisingly enough, TSMC chips only declined by 9% annually. Samsung held the upper hand in smartphone chipsets, with a 60% node share driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which is also slated to be used by Apple and MediaTek this year. TSMC is expected to dominate all other chip suppliers this year at its 4nm process node.
